This evening I mowed our back yard. As I walked behind the self-propelled mower I considered the difference in the grass. Some of the grassy areas were lush, tall and bright green. Other areas were dry, short and then there were the brown crusty spots. Some of those were hard to even tell where I had mowed, there was not much change after the blades sliced across the blades of grass that were not tall enough to be cut.
These different types of grassy areas made me think of the different areas of our lives. Life is made up of so many areas. I am a wife, mom, sister, friend, co-worker, teacher, cook, seamstress and gardener. Not all at the same time, thank God! There are different areas of my Christian life, walking in faith, knowing who I am in Christ, prayer, trusting God in different areas; marriage, health and healing, finances, prayers for others and knowing I am forgiven. Just like the grass being so different due to lack of or plenty of water. The different areas of our heart will grow depending on the amount of water we apply. In Ephesians, Paul wrote that Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.
The Word of God is water to our soul. Have you watered each area of your life with the Word. It is the Word that will bring more faith to these areas. Romans 10:17 says, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If we meditate on the Word of God concerning healing then we will be like the lush green grass, but if we do not renew our mind concerning healing we will be like the dry crusty grass in that area of our life. It is important to be balanced and study the Word of God and grow our faith in all areas of our life. So that all of our heart has strong faith based belief and we will be able to resist the Enemy when he tries to draw us away from the Truth of the Lord our God.
