A person that does not demonstrate humility is a “know-it-all”; they are never learning. Humble people, on the other hand, are secure enough to ask for help and advice when it comes to their weaknesses and understand that it is what you learn after you know it all that counts. John Maxwell
Don't let guilt and unworthiness rob u of the power of the cross of Jesus Christ and His blood, repent and step out by faith to receive His forgiveness
As believers, we are all spiritually under construction all the time.....we may not always do right or think right but if our heart is right we will learn to listen to the Spirit concerning our need for growth and change. We may not have arrived at our destination, but we have left
“The test of a preacher is his congregation goes away saying not ‘What a lovely sermon,’ but ‘I will do something!’” --Francis de Sales
You don't need a pulpit, stage and microphone to be a minister. You need a life.
Every person like every Church has a different personality and purpose with everyone having the opportunity to be useful in the Master's hands.........each one has their individual giftings and makeup and are specially formed to bring in the HARVEST of people in their generation. To bring in the harvest it takes different people and Churches, some are more evangelistic, some prophetic, some pastoral, worship styles are different but to the same God. Don't be concerned about all the differences, be concerned about your part to play in it all by the Spirit
26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'NKJV
A clear conscience always makes for a soft pillow.....
How much do we pay attention to our conscience? When our conscience isn't clear, we usually will be loaded down with fears, doubt, and lots of guilt.
When we renew our minds with God's words, our conscience is taught what the Bible says about what is light vs. darkness, truth vs. a lie, right vs. wrong etc.
The Holy Spirit uses our conscience to help lead us, teach us, and counsel us. If it is that important a tool, shouldn't we listen and pay attention to how and what we deal with every waking day?
2 Tim 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience NKJV
What are some of your Sunday morning excuses for staying home from Church??Some of my favorites that I've heard are; it's raining, I'm tired, I stayed up too late, I don't feel good, I'm going to worship on the bay, my only day off, too many hypocrites there, the preacher just wants my money. Just remember the importance of assembling some place, it is for your spiritual growth and development and encouragement. All week in the world will drain you and you need a fresh infilling of His Spirit and Word to take it on for another week...
Lam 3:22 Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. NKJV
Just like the sun that comes up faithfully every morning, we have His mercy and compassion and they are NEW EVERY MORNING. That's awesome truth to remember as we are all imperfect in need of His mercies
Been pondering three words for this week's end of the year sermon, beginning, ending, and continuation. As it always seems, the Holy Spirit will always give me illustrations as well as I meditate on a scripture text......
Phil 1: 6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; NKJV
In our family and church family this weekend, we have a birthing of a new baby girl and the passing of one of Karen's family members. Of course we are ending an old year and beginning another this week as well.
Different seasons in our lives will always begin something new or end something old or continue on with given vision and purpose. Not everybody is even conscious of such times necessarily. I can look back at different times in my life and the lives of others and watched God's divine APPOINTMENTS establish a new thing that I wasn't even expecting. Sometimes it takes a SUDDENLY of God to get us on the right track, but the key is to constantly ask God to REVEAL His will to you so that you can follow in step with His seasonal changes.....
When it comes to leaving LEGACIES, painters leave behind their paintings, authors leave their writings, musicians and singers leave their songs.......
Jesus left us His Blood Covenant, our inheritance, our Salvation, our eternal life with HIM.......That's an awesome LEGACY don't u think
So the message of the season is not, “Let it snow” or even, “Let us shop.” The real message of Christmas is, “Let us worship.” That is what the wise men came to do. And that is what we should be doing as well.
I love using the term "it's a small world" when I should more aptly say, It's just one of God's "divine appointments" Late this afternoon I went to fuel up my boat for a trip this week and I went to the restaurant there on the waterfront. I was by myself and noticed a young man dressed in biker jacket and saw his chopper outside below.
I decided to start a conversation with him as I like to do with people in public places. In the course of the conversation found out he had driven down for the day to come back to his hometown. After a little more discussion found out he had been looking for my son and wondering what had happened to him over all the years since they had lost contact in elementary school......wow
Then He asked me if I remembered all the times he had come to our house yrs ago to visit Gary and all I could say is wow. We were sitting next to each other and were both about to depart but we spent an hour talking about old times in growing up in small town USA........AMAZING how God puts us in right places at right times
“If you don't have peace, it isn't because someone took it from you; you gave it away. You cannot always control what happens to you, but you can control what happens in you.” - John C. Maxwell
One of the hardest things to give is "UP" Yet there is a season where we learn that in order to come to Christ we need to simply give UP our lives so His life can be lived through us......But what seems contradictory at times, the Bible also says to not lose heart or not give UP.
Holy Spirit was giving this to me tonight after doing some pretty intense marital counseling. Its a paradox to say that u have to give UP things and time to the Lord as surrender, yet also never give up and quit something u know God has given u to do.
The value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation. You are not important because of how long you live, you are important because of how effective you live. And most people are concerned about growing old rather than being effective.
"The people who have impacted the world didn't live long. Martin Luther King. John F. Kennedy. These people who impact the world were not old people, but they lived so effectively that we cannot erase them from history...Myles Munroe
Like a game, whether your life is just starting out as a child, or in the middle of adulthood at halftime, or in the last quarter as a senior, time is still ticking and on the clock........it ain't over til it's over. As long as there is life and breath in you, live your life to the fullest in the Lord and die emptied of His will and purpose for your life.
Then comes the end of your STORY
Deut 4:19-20 And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage. NKJV
I was thinking today as I was prayer walking how God placed His complete Biblical story in the heavens, the constellations long before there was a Bible to declare His glory.......Ever since Babylonian times, man has taken the signs of the zodiac and used them to try to foretell their own personal destiny. Today's papers and websites will give u a prediction or some form of guidance aligned with the stars and planets whether you are a Leo or Virgo.
We call this a horoscope. The gospel starts in Genesis (Virgo) with the forthtelling of the promise in the Seed of the woman who later becomes the VIRGIN in the gospels. This culminated in the end of the story with (Leo) or Jesus Christ, the lion of the tribe of Judah.
Ps 19:1-4The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
2 Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.NKJV
The stars arent our focus of WORSHIP, the CREATOR of the stars IS....
Trying to sing in the dark is the most difficult of tasks. Whether we react to life with fear or faith depends on our focus. Overcoming challenges will always be difficult or there wouldn't be a need for the word "overcomer" in God's word..........................
